Leinster Club hurling leagues to start on March 27th
02/02/2010
The opening round of the Leinster Club Hurling League will take place on Saturday, March 27th next at 4pm.
Clubs had until January 29th to put down a €300 deposit with their county secretary and have until Friday (February 5th) to complete a questionaire for the ‘successful’ running of the leagues.
The Leinster Council intends to finalise groupings of four teams and publish fixtures by Friday week, February 19th.
Rounds 2 and 3 will be played on April 5th and April 17th respectively and the quarter-finals will take place on Saturday, April 24th.
The semi-finals are scheduled to be played on Monday, May 3rd, but dates for the finals have not yet been determined.
It is expected that there will be a maximum of 32 teams in each division with the number of divisions depending on the number of clubs competing. Last year all of Kildare’s senior clubs entered.
The Leinster Competitions Control Committee outlines a number of conditions that County Boards must adhere to if allowing their clubs to take part in the leagues.
These directives are...
• All Counties are requested to factor in the Leinster Club Hurling League fixtures into their
County fixtures plan.
• An entry fee of €300 made payable to the Leinster Council, for all clubs wishing to participate in
the competition. This fee will be refunded on completion of the league section of the competition. If a team fails to play all their games this fee will be forfeited by the Club.
• All games must be played as per the Official Leinster fixtures. Any request for changes must be
made through the County Secretaries of both Clubs involved.
• In the event of players not being released from County duty, the Club involved must be
prepared to fulfill their fixtures without them.
• Referees expenses for each game (at the leagues stages) must be covered by the “Home” team.
Referee fee €40 per game.
• Home clubs allowed charge a gate fee of €5 per game.
• County Referee Administrators to facilitate the appointment of Referees for all the games
played within their County.
Referees:
Referees will be appointed by the County Referee Administrator. All games up to the final will be
refereed by Officials from the county in which the game is taking place.
