If I recall correctly, Barrow Rangers were beaten by James Stephens in the first round. The Village fielded half a senior team and even when they lost those players to the senior team they almost overturned Bennettsbridge in a replay.

The city clubs in the Northern Junior Championship are always a fly in the ointment for that competition.

If you are going to write on this you would want to have your information correct.the village still had all their senior players when they played the bridge an bsolute farce..players playing championship at two levels.barrow rangers would have ate them minus their seniors

Barrow Rangers were rubbish against the Village, and would not have 'eaten' anyone that day, no matter who the Village had playing. (They had 4 or 5 players who played senior this year playing that day, not 'half a team' as Bainisteoir incorrectly said.)

Also in the drawn game against the Bridge the Village had their senior lads playing, in the replay they did not.

Agree fully with you bigmick- Barrow Rangers would'nt ATE there dinner at the moment let alone the Village or any other team. In my view looking at Barrow Rangers they were awful looking last year. I will ate my hat if they ate anybody in 2010!!

The Village hadn't their Senior players for the replay against the 'Bridge.

I also agree that players shouldn't be allowed to play in two adult county championships.

The easiest solution to that problem is to ensure that the first round of the senior championship is played before the first round of the junior championship.

The Village should have beaten Barrow Rangers by more that night.
The Village played within the rules set out by the county board. As quoted earlier by somebody else they could have beaten Bennetsbridge with a 65% Special Junior team in the replay. Clubs should look at themselves first and realise that they have to get their own houses in order before castigating other clubs for playing within the rules.
The Village were hit with serious injuries all within a week that necessitated lads moving from Junior to Senior and this caused a big outcry then as it was assumed these lads played senior all year. Not true.

These village players were playing senior all year..a simple solution would be that come championship time clubs have to name a panel in each grade...on your second point that they had 65% special junior team for the replay against the bridge if that was the case the village should have walked the special junior as the bridge were the closest team to blacks and whites in the championship beaten by a point in northern final

The comments of DanRooney are wrong. Not all the players you speak about played senior all year with the Village. I go to a lot of matches and I would think that Philip Larkin was the one and only player who played every senior match. In saying that if teams are worried about a 36 year old causing them problems well then revert to earlier posting. There was 4 players who started or came on as subs aginst St Martins in the Q-Final of the Senior championship. These 4 players were not even on the senior panel prior to this match. They were called up because of injuries that occurred the previous week in training and a challenge match. So get your facts right if you are going to come posting on the site.

Getting back to the thread "Manager Merry Go Round" Ballyragget have yet to appoint a successor to Jimmy Ruth.
Jimmy, of course had a wonderful stint with Galmoy, winning County and All Ireland Junior titles, his home club appeared to make progress in 2008 but disappointed in 2009. A good coach, I wonder where he'll end up this year.

At this stage most clubs are sorted out with managers/selection committees.

Ballyragget, Graigue Ballycallan and Danesfort have yet to name their backroom teams, but all three are likely to appoint people from their own ranks, with Dinny Cahill appearing in Tom Ryall Park in July.

The draw for the local League/Championships take place next Monday night in Nowlan Park

Michael "Tich" Phelan is the new Danesfort Intermediate Hurling Manager.

The Glenmore man was in charge of the Wicklow Senior Hurling team in 2009 and also previously trained Glenmore and Piltown.

Graigue Ballycallan on the verge of appointing Callan's Declan Roche as their new manager.
An outstanding servant for the John Locke's club over the years as a hurler and now secretary.
He trained the 'Lockes a couple of years ago with decent results .
A no nonsense type trainer, he will give it a good lash with the Ballycallan lads and a link up with Dinny Cahill later on in the year will be interesting.

Graigue Ballycallan still looking for a new manager. It looks as if they will have to convince someone to take the job from within the club.
It's getting very late at this stage.

John Leahy has been appointed manager of Windgap Junior Hurling team.
The Mullinahone man was in charge there a number of years ago.

Danesfort have finalised their back room team with Joe Tierney (who had a stint with St.Patrick's Ballyragget) and John Ireland joining manager Michael 'Tich' Phelan as selectors.

Ballycallan's search still goes on.

Thats interesting about John Leahy taking over Windgap. When did he train them previously?

He was traveling a serious distance to training so you have to see his point...fenians in 1st round I thought would bring him back.........the lactains boys have a little bit of cockiness about this fixture..they have to remember senior in kilkenny is a serious step up and the Fenians only hurled outside the top flight for 1 season since their formation,,the year they were formed and they won that junior championship,,,,,,,,,,,,

Graige's new manager John Meany going to do a better job than previous managers by winning more than the relegation final .

Dennis rackard Coady tipped to take up the post at Black and whites after a falling out up there. They have poached him away from graige.

Mark Power manager of Slieverue has applied for Bennetsbridge job after walking away from Slieverue
