Who Do Non Kilkenny People Want To Win?

All the news and views on the hurling scene

Postby Deise Man » Thu Aug 28, 2008 5:10 pm

Having just logged on here to have a look what the good folk of Kilkenny were thinking ahead of the match. I am however very dissappointed at many posters attitude here! There is in fact very little hurling debate and instead nasty attacks on Waterford people "uneducated toerags" and personal attacks on players!

The abuse Eoin Kelly has been subjected to here is shameful! He brings his kid onto the pitch so what! These guys do what they do for the love of the game as was evidenced by the look on his face! The least they deserve is some respect especially after all the great games they have been involved in. Okay so there is some fist punching and jersey kissing - big deal get over it! KK were doing a little fist punching against Cork for small things like winning frees!

I thought a KK hurling forum would have a little more class than this. I know that this does not represent the feelings of the majority of KK people who are genuine hurling fans. In fact a couple of my mates are from North County Waterford and we are having great craic with the build up but none of the nasty dribble that some KK people have displayed here!

Rant over just expected more from KK people! And apologies to the level headed KK posters here such as the one previous to me who dont engage in this!

Hope everyone enjoys the game and gets up and home safely

Deise man look closer and you will see the toerags comment was not made by a KK person, there are people from all counties here not just KK and Waterford. Also beware we have a lot of new members recently who are dragging the site down with their antics. Some Waterford posters are even coming on posings as cats. I'm afraid it's just silly season and we have to look through the rubbish and look for the posts from the genuine hurling people. Spent enough time here and you get to know them fairly quickly. Enjoy it all!

P.s sneaky one about North County Waterford, you wouldn't like your lovely city being called south county KK now would ya

Having read a few more threads that is fairly evident! Good man KK mucker! Think your right about silly season and dont get me wrong I'm all for a bit of banter but just think some of the posts about EK are uncalled for!

Really looking foward to the game and some of the head to heads. Although I dont think will happen would love to see Tommy Welsh mark Eoin McGrath! Two lightening fast small hard players!

I hang to the hope that we can score goals and defo give your backs more trouble than Cork did! crucial for us that we dont let yee build a lead or game could be a damp squib like last year! Heres hoping!

So every single one of your mates who you asked all said they will be shouting for Kilkenny ?

If you go through the history of the game, every team had a couple of hard men. Jesus I used to love watching Sylvey Lenane and Harry Ryan go at it. What about the 50's, 60's and 70's, where keepers were fair game. Every full back in the country was a tough whoor.

KK over the last 10 years have raised the bar and the approach to the game. I thought last years AI couldn't get any better, but the semi-final this year against Cork was magical - fielding, Larkin and Lyng's solo runs, point scoring, blockling, tackling, it had everything. If you want a lesson on how to play the game, go watch that game again. It was a hard hitting exciting game.
.

I don't know why (a)everyone is on about KK being dirty and (b) KK are so sensitive about it.
No team ever won anything without a few scuts in their line-up. And when I'm playing, I'd rather that our crowd would have the scuts rather than the opposition.

Sylvie V Harry was some craic allright.
What about E Cloonan V eddie O'connor too
John Leahy v John O'connor/Stephen Frampton
Liam Dunne v Power
Ger henderson v Lynskey

great stuff altogether

Tell you what, this KK are dirty stuff goes way over my head.
Good KK teams (as well as from every other county too) always had a few axe men - and there is a long and honourable tradition of uncompromising defending in the game.

If it strays into 'dirt' it'll be called 'dirt' - Hickey is my idea of the best full-back I've seen but there have been a couple of occasions when he's crossed the line with a couple of ugly swipes, but probably nothing worse than yellow card stuff IMO.
The fascination with the rest I simply don't get. As far as I can see it's tough and robust.

IMO the one really outstandingly ugly piece of defending by a KK defender in the 10 yrs under Cody was in an AI SF when one of the backline stood watching a player pass the ball to himself over the defenders head like it was an under 14 match.
Makes me cringe just thinking about it...

I think it'll be overwhelmingly waterford for the rest of the country, thats certainly my experience in work and that includes the polish dudes!!! Everyone loves an underdog thats a fact. Everyone likes to watch the All Blacks, they're admired and respected but everyone loves to see them beaten! (the cats are obviously better than the all blacks, we win when it counts!)

Offensive is too strong, mildly irritated maybe.

I havn't really thought about why it annoys me; maybe because it's an aping of what premiership "stars" get up to.

But no big deal in the greater scheme of things.

I've said it elsewhere! These lads for all counties doent get paid, are not rich, dont drive fast cars and dont have footballers lifestyles!

I think its really nice that players want their families to share in special moments in their lives! Surely its what the GAA is all about! FAMILY

If it irks you then maybe you have other problems!

The nasty dribble is your North County Waterford rubbish...

Why did you feel you had to come on a Kilkenny website and make that comment?

That aside a lot of posters are expressing opinions are from Kilkenny and Waterford. The thread was meant to get the feeling of genuine supporters outside those counties. And let us know what county you are from?

What do Limerick, Clare, Wexford, Offaly, Loais, Carlow, Galway think?
Anyone around from any of those counties?

Captain Scarlet there is a big difference between personal attacks on indivdual players and their families to a bit of banter between to sets of supporters! I apologise if you find this comment offensive - it was meant in good humour! :?

Just as well you haven't logged on before now.
